 Land Clearing Crisis by MBSJ

How it started: MBSJ clears the sites on 22nd June and 4th October 2022.

How it ended: Tree stumps were barricaded and the stumps resprouted, causing the restoration of the site within 3 to 4 months, in September 2022 and January 2023.

Kak Ita Crisis

How it started: MBSJ cut the tree and clear the site on 24th March 2023 via Encik Ahmad and crew. They then enlisted Mr Supervisor and his crew to maintain the condition of the site to prevent repeated clearings. Mr Supervisor then enlisted Kak Ita to do the job because she was regularly sweeping the road.

How it ended: A tug of war of clearing and putting of the barricades annoyed exhausted Kak Ita both mentally and physically. The packed schedule of Kak Ita resulted in even more exhaustion. The physical regrowth of weeds and grass entangled the barricades, making it difficult for her to remove them. The crisis was declared over by 24th August 2023.

Mr Supervisor Crisis

How it started: MBSJ threatens to sack Mr Supervisor in September 2024 after discovering the regrown trees and reaffirms their directive to him. Mr Supervisor and his team cut the trees on 14th October 2024, triggering a year-long tug of war of clearing and putting using Option 1, Option 2 and the Lorry Method.

How it ended: MBSJ did not renew Mr Supervisor's contract, resulting in the changing of the contractor to Encik Nizam and crew on 1st January 2026. The new crew were asked to clear the lone star tree and Bukit Han Shi Hiok 2 simultaneously on 24th January 2026 and the Pavilion given official MBSJ clearance of directives. This resulted in them being treated differently by MBSJ. Initially, they cared about the Pavilion and cleared the branches and trees. Subsequently, as they eased into the site and their routine, they begun to ignore the trees. The Iran war resulted in high oil prices and it begun to affect their job scope, thus further saving the Pavilion. The turning point was when man made items were used to barricade the Pavilion. The crisis is to be declared over by end April 2026.
