"If I can just earn more, life will finally feel comfortable."

"If I can just earn more, life will finally feel comfortable."

But is that still true today?

How much do we actually need now to feel financially secure in KL?
A 5-figure salary?
More?

In 2010, Malaysia's median salary was around RM1,500/month.

Today in KL, it's around RM4,391/month.

On paper, that sounds like huge progress.

But somehow…
Many people still feel like they're barely keeping up.

Because while salaries grew, so did everything else.

Rent.
Groceries.
Parking.
Tolls.
Eating out.
Even the "small" daily spending we barely notice anymore.

And the scary part?
We adapted so quickly that this level of financial stress started feeling normal.
We just… pay for it.

That's why even people with good income still feel anxious.
Still feel like it's not enough.

Not because they're reckless.
Not because they're lazy.

But because surviving comfortably today costs very differently from before.

So here's the real question:
Are we truly building a better life?
Or are we just working harder to maintain a normal one?

Because growing your income matters — yes.
But if your money isn't growing faster than inflation, the treadmill never stops.

And learning to make your money work for you is just as important as earning more of it.

Investing.
Building assets.
Growing beyond just depending on a salary.

Not to get rich overnight.
Just to finally get some breathing room.

What do you think? 👀
